Lecture: Geography of the 2024 Elections - With a Little Bit of 2025 Too
Date/Time: May 28 @7:00pm - 8:30pm at the Church of the Brethren; 464 Virgina Ave, Morgantown WV
Talk Overview: The goal of this presentation is to put into context the political, geographical, and historical trends of the 2024 American presidential election. The centerpiece of the presentation is a wide variety of election maps. These maps bring alive the story of the 2024 election, especially with respect to Monongalia County, West Virginia, and the nation, much more than mere numbers of electoral votes and national vote counts.
Lecturer: Ken Martis was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. He obtained a B.Ed. from the University of Toledo in 1968, a M.A. in geography from San Diego State in 1970, and his Ph.D. in geography from The University of Michigan. In between graduate programs he served two years as a United States Army Military Police Officer. In 1975 he joined the WVU faculty and is the author or co-author of nine award-winning books on American elections and the United States Congress. He is currently working on his next publication, Atlas of the 2024 Elections.
