Who is NCWVRR? North Central WV Rapid Response is a pro-immigrant group comprised of volunteers committed to protecting our immigrant neighbors from harmful ICE actions. We collaborate with other Pro-Immigrant Groups in the area to achieve the best results.
How does it work? When someone spots or suspects they spot ICE in North Central WV they can call our hotline at 681-867-6035. We will then dispatch an observer to confirm the ICE sighting, observe and document raids/ arrests, offer information about rights, and connect them and their families with local resources.
Why does it matter? Imagine you're a lawful permanent resident. ICE shows up at your door. You know your rights and refuse to let them in without a warrant — but they break down the door anyway. Before you can grab your shoes or coat, you're taken away in a van. When your family comes home from church, the door is shattered, and you're gone. They have no idea where you are or how to reach you. Your rights have been violated, and you're now in detention with little access to legal help.
Now imagine the same moment — but this time, one of your neighbors spots ICE in the neighborhood. A Rapid Response volunteer confirms it and you get a text alert. You put on your shoes and coat, ready. When ICE arrives, a volunteer is outside, recording. They ask if you want them to call someone. You give them your wife's number. Within hours, she knows where you are and has been connected with groups providing groceries and support. A lawyer receives the video evidence showing ICE violated your rights — and uses it to get you released.
Is false information really that harmful? Yes. When rumors spread, families panic. People miss work, pull their kids from school, and live in fear — even when there's no ICE activity. Accurate, verified information keeps everyone safer.
How can I help? Join the Rapid Response Network. We need volunteers to confirm ICE sightings, respond to enforcement actions, and provide on-the-ground support. We also need community members to help raise funds to keep our alert systems and hotline running. Whether you can give your time, your skills, or a donation — your support helps protect families and strengthens our community.
