Declare Independence with Us — like it's 1776
This weekend, we’re stepping into the shoes of revolutionaries who dared to stand up against tyranny and injustice. Just like they did back in 1776, it’s our turn to declare independence—not from a distant king, but from the forces threatening our democracy today. Whether you’re joining us in person or raising your voice from home, this moment calls for bold action, fierce courage, and the unstoppable power of people united.
Read on to see how you can be part of this modern-day rebellion — because freedom isn’t given. It’s claimed.
Saturday, June 14th
On the day of Trump's birthday parade, Mountaineers Indivisible Citizen Action will be hosting honk and waves at three locations in Morgantown.
Patteson and Monogahela Blvd (Rte 19) - The Coliseum,
Patteson and University Ave - by the Flying WV Topiary,
Van Vooorhis and Elmer Prince Dr - by the WVU Alumni Association
From the https://www.nokings.org/ website: In America, we don’t do kings! They’ve defied our courts, deported Americans, disappeared people off the streets, attacked our civil rights, and slashed our services. The corruption has gone too far. No thrones. No crowns. No kings.
Following our event at 12 pm, the Morgantown Pride Block Party will take place at Ruby McQuain Amphitheater. We encourage our members to head there after our honk-and-wave.
Check here to see how many people have RSVP'd to each location and a low quality screenshot of Google Maps with crudely drawn circles at each location. We're excited to see you there!
MICA Lecture Series
6 - 7:30 pm / Friday, June 13th / Church of the Brethren
The first of our MICA Lecture Series is here! We will be hearing from John Taylor, a Jackson Kelley lawyer and Professor at the WVU College of Law. Taylor teaches Constitutional Law, the Law of Church and State, and Education Law.
Taylor will have a presentation, followed by Q&A.
In the future, we hope to record these events for those who cannot attend, but we will not be recording this one. If you want to watch, you have to come.
Change doesn’t happen alone. That’s why we’re empowering YOU to talk to your local representatives.
The Lobbying Network is a newly launched MICA initiative that empowers everyday people to become powerful advocates through training, coordination, and shared action. We are working to connect small teams of “citizen lobbyists” across the state to amplify our impact. Members gain access to a collaborative calendar, shared resources, and direct support as we take strategic action together.
Whether you’re brand new to lobbying or looking to level up your advocacy, this network is here to make your voice louder, together.
For more info or to get involved, contact Cynthia at cynfox2@gmail.com (use Lobbying Network in the subject line).
Join us. Let’s raise our voices—and be heard.
We currently have three open spots for leadership. We are looking for two Membership Co-Leads and a Communications Co-Lead.
If you're interested in being part of the MICA Leadership Team please fill out this form or if you know of individuals who would be ideally suited to these roles, please share it with them. We will close nominations at 5 pm on June 19th, but we encourage you to self-nominate before Saturday's meeting.
Please note for scheduling purposes that the leadership team currently meets on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.
This is the schedule for all of our meetings on Saturdays at 3 pm at the First Presbyterian Church.
June 21st - All Hands Meeting
Communications will have a quick check-in right afterward.
June 28th - Training on becoming a Marshall
The fight for freedom isn’t a one-time event — it’s an ongoing revolution. Every call we make, every march we join, every voice we raise takes resources, time, and dedication. Your contribution keeps our movement strong and ready to take on whatever challenges come next.
By donating today, you’re helping us fund organizing efforts, support grassroots actions, and hold those in power accountable. Together, we’re reclaiming our democracy — one bold step at a time.
Will you stand with us?
